Privacy Policy

This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use Starter.page, including when you use it as a guest.
1. Who is responsible for your data?
Related Code Kft. is the data controller for Starter.page. This means we decide why and how personal data is used to run the service. For privacy questions or requests, contact us:
Related Code Kft.Honvéd utca 8. I/2.

2. Data we process
- Account data. When you sign up or sign in, our authentication provider, Clerk, processes your account identifier, email address, sign-in credentials, and session information. Depending on your sign-in method, this may include your name, profile image, and information from a sign-in provider you choose.
- Your startpage. We store the links, card names, icon or image URLs, layout, and appearance settings you save. This data is linked to your account or a guest identifier.
- Guest and session data. We use identifiers and security credentials to recognise your browser, protect access to your saved page, and connect a guest page to an account when you ask us to.
- Technical data. Our servers and service providers process connection details, such as your IP address and browser information, to deliver and secure the service. App logs include events, timestamps, request results, error types, and, where available, account or guest identifiers. We also log template choices, saved imports, export starts, and counts of saved card additions and deletions to understand feature use. These logs exclude saved card content, imported file names, full URLs, passwords, and raw error messages.
- Messages. If you contact us, we process your email address, the message, and any information you choose to include.
You provide data directly, through your browser, or through a sign-in provider you choose. Account details are needed for account features, but you can use guest mode without creating an account. We need your chosen links and settings to save your page.
3. Why we use data
- To provide Starter.page: signing you in, saving and loading your page, and handling service requests. The legal basis is performance of our contract with you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- To protect and maintain the service: investigating errors, preventing abuse, and protecting accounts. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, reliable service (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To answer messages: responding to questions and support requests. The basis is our contract with you where the request concerns the service, or our legitimate interest in answering other enquiries.
- To meet legal duties: handling valid legal requests and keeping records required by law. The legal basis is compliance with a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)).
Starter.page does not use advertising trackers. We use app activity logs to measure feature use. We do not use your saved links for advertising, or make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing.
4. Cookies and browser storage
Starter.page uses cookies needed to provide guest access and account features:
- Guest access: the guest cookie keeps access to your guest page for up to one year each time it is set or renewed.
- Remembered page access: when enabled, a separate cookie lets your saved page load quickly for up to seven days each time it is set or renewed. Editing still requires the relevant access checks.
- Authentication: Clerk uses cookies and related browser storage for sign-in, sessions, and security. Their duration depends on the cookie and session settings. See Clerk’s cookie information for details.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser. Doing so may prevent sign-in or cause you to lose access to a guest page. Clearing cookies does not delete the saved data on our servers. Contact us before clearing them if you want help deleting guest data.
5. Who receives data?
We use service providers to run Starter.page:
- Clerk: account management, authentication, and session security.
- DigitalOcean: hosting the app and handling the requests needed to serve it.
- Z8Data: storing saved pages and the account and guest records needed to access them.
- Z8Log: processing operational, feature-use, and error logs when logging is enabled.
People who handle support and technical operations may access data as needed for their work. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
6. International processing
Our providers may process data outside Hungary and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where GDPR requires a transfer safeguard, this must be an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Clerk describes its transfer arrangements in its Data Processing Addendum, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable. Contact info@relatedcode.com for information about the safeguards relevant to your data or to request a copy.
7. How long we keep data
We keep account records and saved pages while they are needed to provide your page. Guest pages are stored on our servers too; a guest cookie expiring does not automatically remove them. Signing out or deleting a sign-in account does not by itself remove all saved page data. You can ask us to delete your saved data by email.
For support messages and technical logs, retention depends on the time needed to resolve the request or issue, investigate abuse, and meet legal duties or handle legal claims. Where records must be kept for these reasons, we limit retention to the relevant purpose and applicable legal period. Backup copies, where held, remain subject to the provider’s backup cycle and any legal retention duties.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR, and subject to its conditions, you can:
- Ask for access to your personal data and a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data or delete data.
- Ask us to restrict processing.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests because of your particular situation.
- Receive data you provided in a portable format when processing is automated and based on a contract or consent.
- Withdraw consent at any time if we rely on it for a particular activity. This does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal.
Send requests to info@relatedcode.com. We may need to check your identity or your access to a guest page. Do not send passwords or session cookies. We normally respond within one month. If the law allows an extension, we will explain the reason within that month.
You can complain to a data protection authority, including in the country where you live or work. In Hungary, this is the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH). You do not need to contact us before making a complaint.
9. External links and images
When you open a saved link, the destination website receives your request and handles data under its own privacy policy. If you use an image hosted on another website, your browser requests that image directly. The image host can receive your IP address and browser information even if you do not click the card. Starter.page sets these image requests not to send a referrer.
10. Updates and contact
We may update this policy as the service or our data practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice of material changes where required. For any privacy question, email info@relatedcode.com.
